“Heard the ‘no’ that time, did ya?”

Guy was first a prize-winning piece of theatre written for the UCD Undergraduate Playwriting Competition 2020, centering the topic of consent, male behavior and nights out.

Initially, the piece was written for stage, but it was adapted and produced by Luna Collective for the world of online theatre after the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. All rehearsals, collaborations for tech design and discussions for how to actually execute the filming of the piece of theatre were done through Zoom. When restrictions eased after Ireland’s first lockdown, Guy was filmed with social distancing.

Silhouettes for bodies, voiceovers for dialogue, and original music from Gregory Kearns and LOWTAG, Guy revolves around the interactions of three characters in a nightclub, who, like many, find themselves followed by the culture that some of us bring through the doors.
